I just wanna say, that this OS when it works right is awesome. I’m getting 110 fps on low setting on my laptop now for MW2 and Rider’s republic. Working with an i5-9300H and 1660 Ti. Feels like a brand new laptop. The installation for this however, was a bit of a pain. It was a lot of trial and error, and alot of different research from many different sources outside what’s given in the DOCs.
Going into this installation I wasn’t fully aware how much this wasn’t your average plug n play. After following the video and docs I wasn’t getting good FPS at all (around 20-29 fps) and it was mainly the drivers. Now the docs did have a tab about drivers, and I did follow installing the video drivers first before running SDIO like it says, however I think because I’m using a laptop, what wasn’t specified is I needed my devices factory drivers from the official support page.
after manually installing the factory drivers and the proper graphics drivers for both the Intel on board graphics and the dedicated graphics( i wasn’t using the notebook specific driver before I believe that was a key issue also) it ran a little better around 40/50 fps but the stutter was horrible
SDIO also couldn’t install more than a few drivers at a time especially if the system required restart after, and it crashed multiple times on me. I must of re-installed this OS 20 times trying to get it right.
what finally got it to work was fixing the one driver SDIO couldn’t find for the laptop, which was a “Charge Arbitration driver”. After downloading a cmbat to enable it and doing a restart. My system was finally flying. I also re-enabled UAC, hyper-V, and did not turn off the spectre meltdown but left it on since I have a 9th gen cpu.
It is Day 3 now and still running good. Over all the experience was hair-pulling and time consuming. More so than the initial video and the LTT video made it seem. But despite not having clear instructions for my specific device; and the discord server being absolutely 0 help seriously guys clean that up a lil so it’s easier to find announcements updates or bug fixes cause all I can find is anime talk in all the channels. Despite all that it’s a good OS, and I did learn more about Windows, my machine, and operating systems and different softwares. Knowledge is not what I expected to get out of this OS installation experience but I’m glad I did so thank you ATLAS OS for the learning experience.
