Hi fluffy, i can answer some of your concerns.
1 - My Bluetooth services have been disabled. Excuse me?
You can re-enable it in the atlas folder, it's not stripped.
2 - Several system specific drivers have been disabled (this includes my Bluetooth adapter)
We remove/disable them to decrease background processes. Some drivers aren't really needed for general users.
3 - Windows Defender has been wiped from the plane of existence
Windows defender is removed because it draws alot of performance. Also, windows defender breaks Atlas tweaks and can possibly break your install. (Update: Windows Defender is coming back in v0.3.0 as an optional choice.)
4 - Sleep has been disabled
i don't know much about it, lemme ask xyueta.
5 - Email and Calendar have been removed (No biggie, they can be re-added like OneDrive)
These aren't really nesscery for gaming, you can add them back. (IMO windows 10 email is ancient, there are other good alternatives)
How is this trustworthy?
Everything we use is open sourced. This includes but not limited to our Scripts, Install wizard(CLI version).
Your "Honest Review" posted on your homepage referred to 'Upgrading' to atlas over a stock Windows 11 install from 4 Days ago.
Please read wisely, i believe this person is saying that he runs stock windows 11 before and upgraded to Atlas (by installing w10 22H2 and applying atlas). Also you can create your own version of W11 Atlas with our config files in the "scripts" i mentioned above. We also can't control anything posted on Trustpilot, so these reviews did in fact came from actual atlas users.
I get that this is still in Beta and a lot of things are still in testing, but I'm noticing a lot of removed things that just AREN'T bloatware.
Well, what you thing isn't what others think. In fact, which average gamer needs CMOS System Clock dragging performance and using up their spaces?
The OWNER of the discord implied that I was dumb by telling me to "Just think" when I was first having issues
i think syrm's point is straightfoward. "Oh, Bluetooth is diabled and i want to use it, lets enable it."
if you want to use it then enable it, if not, leave it as it is.
Out of the flood of issues I saw in there, I saw one or two actually get solved, and it was the same 3 people over and over again who would be helping, and only one of them seemed to actually be staff.
support is only meant to be offered in channel #atlas-support (forums mode) and on https://forum.atlasos.net
Not every one on server is skilled with atlas. Also, quote from the chocolatey project that atlas includes, i think it's applicable in this situation too.
If you are an open source user requesting support, please remember that most folks in the Chocolatey community are volunteers that have lives outside of open source and are not paid to ensure things work for you, so please be considerate of others' time when you are asking for things. Many of us have families that also need time as well and only have so much time to give on a daily basis. A little consideration and patience can go a long way. After all, you are using a pretty good tool without cost. It may not be perfect (yet), and we know that.
On that note, I for sure will be avoiding Atlas from here on out, and sticking to stock Windows 10.
I am sorry to hear that, it's your freedom to use it or not. Very sorry for the bad experince you get and apologies on anything we havn't done good.
